I am currently working full time as a SharePoint Solutions Consultant for a Microsoft Gold Partner who specialise in providing business information solutions using Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 and 2010. The Solutions Consultant role involves providing expert advice to customers who wish to implement information management solutions with SharePoint products and the integration of related technologies. Projects vary from public facing websites to organisational collaboration platforms such as intranets and extranets.

As a Solutions consultant I am required to be a highly versatile in the following areas:

• Consultation:
  Provide customers with a primary contact during the project lifecycle and beyond in areas such as system design, technical decision making, end-user support and training. Support the project management process internally and externally by providing an interface with the development process. Support business development managers by identifying potential new business opportunities during a projects lifecycle.
• Business analysis:
  Consult and liaise with customers in a post sales environment with view to understanding and qualifying the business needs. Using recognised techniques such as workshops, interviews and workplace shadowing in order to produce project requirements documentation to inform all parties involved in the project.
• Information architecture:
  Taking the project requirements and engaging in information systems design using wireframe drawings, site maps, and user journey documentation.
• Quality assurance testing:
  Provide a first line of quality assurance which ensures that customers receive fully tested software for their prototypes and demonstrations. Engage in any required further testing activities such as use case, functional, stress and code standards validation.
• User Interface design / development:
  Provide an extra UI (user interface) front-end development resource in XHTML and CSS as well as the ability to understand and script in ASPX, XSLT, XML, PHP, SQL, JavaScript and Adobe Flash.
• Graphic design:
  To further support information architecture activities with a complete graphic design service up to full UI concept and final artwork standards.
